A message from Adam Jackson, CFO

Up until recently, there never was an issue with anyone in the trading industry not knowing about Paula T. Webb, or “Paula T” as Mark Douglas nicknamed her when they first met and began their collaboration.  

Mark and Paula met in late 1984 and began writing together to create initially a set of classes for traders to teach them the type of thinking process they knew was necessary, along with technical analysis of course, to create and sustain a growing equity curve.  Those first classes taught at the Discovery Center in Chicago, turned into their first book “The Disciplined Trader.”  Paula, as Mark has mentioned throughout their career together, was instrumental in the foundation of the field of “Trading Psychology” they created together, and none of their books or workshops would have been possible without her collaboration.

The photos we have included here below are just a small sample of the 30-year collaboration creating and growing the field of Trading Psychology, which they launched in the late 1980s.  At the time, the only other person in the investment industry working on this new field was Dr. Van K. Tharp, who considered Mark and Paula friends.  As he has been quoted to say about them:  “They are different from all the rest…they live the concepts they teach traders…”

For the record:  Paula T. Webb owns all the copyrights as co-author of The Disciplined Trader, editor of Trading in the Zone, wrote all the dialogue for all their workshops including the three workshops found on the internet; she is co-author of all their books - and all of this is as Mark's business partner and wife.  It is long past time this industry came to terms with this fact.  Just because you or anyone else may not have heard of Paula – or claim not to have heard of her, has nothing to do with the theft of her copyright-protected materials, and certainly does not warrant all the grave negativity expressed toward her.

We understand piracy is a fact of life on the internet, we don’t live in a vacuum - but it became a fact by people who will attempt to build their own businesses using Mark and Paula's world-renowned reputation, instead of working together with our office.  

And each one of them does so, because they do not believe in Universal Abundance - the philosophy Paula and Mark have been teaching since 1990.  A philosophy that countless holy men, philosophers, sages, wise men have taught, preached, and which is written in all Holy Scriptures in any faith since the earliest days of mankind.  In essence, none of those who post understand the true concepts that Mark and Paula's materials are truly about.  

That is what makes this quite a tragedy for so many traders – that they do not believe they can truly take the amount of unlimited profit that we teach.

The reason you won’t find any of their joint workshops is because most of those workshops held in the beginning were hosted before the internet existed; years before laptops, cell phones or other personal devices were available that record.  And after the internet came into play and laptops became available at reasonable costs to the average trader, Paula and Mark made the decision not to allow any of those devices to be at the workshops as they knew the temptation would be too great for people who couldn’t trade to illegally share their materials.  And that is exactly what happened with the few workshops of Mark you find on the internet.

Those pirated workshops were stolen by people who attended those specific workshops and who attended for FREE.  And because they are failed traders, they felt they could make money by stealing and posting Paula and Mark’s materials using their reputation instead of working on creating a winning mindset for themselves.  This is reality.  Not one of the internet pirates posting their materials today is a successful trader.  If they were, they wouldn’t need to steal anyone else’s materials.  Instead, they use the reputation and materials of Mark and Paula to monetize their own wallets.

Again, it is sad that none of you posting the 20+-year-old video materials (some of which have been voiced-over using AI and are no longer our materials or message) - realize the true profit opportunities available by working together with new, deeper and more appropriate messages for today's traders.

Paula and Mark’s office has never closed, and our office continues to publish new materials and host workshops.  So we have to ask, what is the justification in illegally posting someone else's works?  Just because someone finds information on the internet does not mean it is legal to repost for their financial benefit, and everyone knows this. Further, all of you seeking free materials from anyone to assist you with your trading are aware that those posting have nothing to do with our office, because our website URL has never been posted on any of the pirated videos. 

This was a mystery to the great Mark Douglas, who was so generous all he and Paula ever asked from everyone stealing their materials was to post their website URL on their pirated posts; every single internet pirate refused to do so even after being called out for copyright infringement.  Even today, most of those who post still refuse to add our URL when asked to do so; only agreeing to post their website URL after getting the copyright strike.

What is interesting is that it never occurs to any of those posting/reposting to contact our office and work together mutually. 

We will share that Mark and Paula did not want to think they failed to get their message across to traders.  But it broke Mark’s heart to think that none of those posting their materials understood what Paula and he began teaching decades ago about what it means to think and act like a winner to become the most successful trader you can be.  To think those posting were just after a quick dollar using their reputation is in large part why he left us, thinking he failed all of you.  

Today, even Paula still wonders - was asking those who post to add their URL so much to ask?  Is it still too much to ask?  Apparently so because none of the pirates we approach today with that request agree to do so.  So, we must ask what is it they think they are going to lose by adding Paula’s URL to their posting of her copyrighted materials?  

Mark and Paula lost years of being able to host workshops due to all this posting, but that's okay right?  Paula lost her best friend, fellow author, husband; and their children lost a father.  We have to ask those of you reading this here, why do those who post feel that Paula does not deserve to get paid for helping you become a better trader?  Meaning, those of you posting who provide their materials for content on your social media to countless other traders to get monetized yourselves is right, but it’s not right to monetize the very people who you are using.

We are at a loss to understand how any of you who claim you "...have nothing but respect for Paula and Mark..." and yet think that stealing copyright-protected materials from them for own financial benefit is okay and then claim they don’t know who Paula is.  For the record, our office has always been open to working together with those wishing to post/repost the pirated videos long before Mark died whether you believe that or not, if only to include our website URL on their post - but more importantly with the offer to share our new materials for a financially mutual benefit.  

Most traders today choose not to learn the journey that Mark and Paula traveled which is a story Mark always shared in his coaching and workshops (not the videos pirated on the internet), a journey to bring these same traders insights to grow their equity growth.  And those of you younger than 30 years old, we understand it might be difficult for you to believe that women in this industry weren’t always acknowledged.  But that doesn’t make your anger toward Paula acceptable just because you have no knowledge of the way things were years ago.
